At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our Marine Operations team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and successful recovery of our Dragon spacecraft.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the operation of our Dragon Recovery vessels, Megan and Shannon, in the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Pacific.
- Develop and maintain a culture of safety and excellence among vessel crew and recovery specialists.
- Assist in planning and executing recovery missions, including voyage planning, day-to-day operations, and offshore vessel operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Collaborate with shoreside leadership to plan vessel maintenance, large-scale projects, and mission operations.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance crew skillsets and proficiencies.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 3+ years of experience in an off-shore mate/master role.
- 200 Ton Master upon Oceans Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)/license.
- US Coast Guard medical certificate (STCW).
- Current (non-expired) USCG license, and ability to pass relevant USCG examinations; federal facility background checks, re-certifications, and chemical testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 500 Ton Master upon Oceans MMC.
- Third Mate Unlimited Tonnage MMC.
- Able Seafarer - Deck.
- 5+ years of experience in an off-shore Mate role.
- 3+ years of professional experience working in a role that deals with examinations or licensing-efforts with US Coast Guard (USCG) and/or American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) regulations.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.
- Willingness to work a 28/14 schedule.
- Position requires a Merchant Mariner credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with 46 CFR 16 and 49 CFR 40.
- Must be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary; role may require travel.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay range: $44,000.00 annual salary + $650.00 per day worked.
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

ITAR Requirements:
