Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Build friendly rapport and provide exceptional service through exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model and fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Cash Handling: Operate a cash register efficiently, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item location, and purchases.
  • Merchandising: Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and ensure Ocean State Job Lot merchandising standards are met.
  • Delivery and Inventory: Unload deliveries according to Company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, proactively communicating opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
  • Safety and Security: Understand, support, and implement safety protocols throughout the store.
  • Store Maintenance: Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Math and Reading Skills: Basic math and reading skills are required.
  • Communication Skills: Legible handwriting as well as good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Work Environment:
  • Physical Demands: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential. This position requires constant extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift.
  • Physical Activities: Responsible for physical activities including using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting on a frequent basis: Should be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
