Biodiesel Operator Job Description

Chevron is seeking a highly skilled Biodiesel Operator to join our team. As a Biodiesel Operator, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring company plants and facilities, ensuring the safe and efficient production of biodiesel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the biodiesel DCS system to monitor and control the production process.
  • Assist with managing and overseeing the production in the biodiesel manufacturing facility.
  • Perform various quality control functions on oil, biodiesel, glycerin, fatty acid, and water, including visual inspection and operation of lab equipment.
  • Monitor and continually improve quality control in all aspects of biodiesel operation.
  • Maintain a BQ-9000-compliant production and shipping and receiving system complete with appropriate documentation and work instructions.
  • Inventory process supplies and monitor inventory levels.
  • Generate daily system reports and follow all safety regulations for any work area.
  • Perform general facility maintenance and housekeeping, including equipment inspection, repairs, adjustments, and monitoring throughout the facility.
Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in load-out operations and several years of experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Basic computer skills, accounting skills, good written and oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Forklift Operator Certificate.
  • Ability to operate plant computer systems and operate a forklift, locomotive, pallet jack, pallet wrapper, and rail switches.
  • Working knowledge of soy oil and biodiesel processing as well as BQ-9000 requirements.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and its application.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Be available for work and overtime as required.
Physical Considerations:

This position requires mental alertness at all times to assure safety and accuracy in all functions. There is stress related to meeting production deadlines.

  • Repetitive hand movements consist of firm grasping with the right and/or left hand. Fine manipulation – (computer).
Exposures:

Exposures may include methanol, sodium methylate, canola oil, hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, methyl esters, fatty acid, glycerin, surfactants, dyes, scents, dust, water, dirt, weather, temperature extremes, and medium to high noise levels.

Working Conditions:

This position requires some flexibility in working hours to ensure effective product shipment. The employee will have the ability to move freely throughout the facilities to direct and conduct a variety of activities. The employee will be subject to continuous exposure to marked changes in temperature, humidity, oil, dust, and high noise levels.
