Job Overview

The Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth is seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to provide bookkeeping services for the school and act as backup for the parish bookkeeper. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial bookkeeping system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the financial bookkeeping system for the parish and school, including accounts payable and receivable ledgers, and financial statements.
  • Compose, send out, and track tuition agreements to school families, ensuring timely payment and follow-up.
  • Send and track tuition assistance letters, enter relevant data into FACTS Tuition Management system, and maintain accurate records.
  • Enter tuition agreements and incidental charges into FACTS Tuition Management system, adhering to established procedures.
  • Update enrollment spreadsheets, calculate pro-rated tuition amounts for new and departing students throughout the school year, and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage bank accounts for the parish and school, process check requests, ensure proper authorization for expenditures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain records of parishioner contributions and other money received, prepare yearly contribution statements, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Cordinate volunteers for money counting and record-keeping tasks, including screening, training, supporting, and overseeing their work.
  • Assist in the budget creation process for the school and parish, providing accurate financial information and recommendations.
  • Maintain vendor payment information, prepare and mail yearly Forms 1099 and Form 1096, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide bookkeeping services for various fund-raising efforts, including the Annual Appeal and special collections, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Complete month-end and year-end close processes, record adjusting journal entries as necessary, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the creation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate monthly electronic funds transfers, ensuring seamless transactions and minimal disruptions.
  • Stay up-to-date with diocesan-sponsored training, workshops, and classes to maintain bookkeeping skills and expertise.
Requirements
  • An Accounting degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Previous bookkeeping experience is required, with a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of SAGE Intacct Accounting system and FACTS Tuition Management system is preferred.
  • Ability to produce accurate and current parish financial data as requested by the pastor or business manager.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow directives from the pastor or business manager in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
