Job Title: Travel Cardiology Technician

Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Travel Cardiology Technician for a 12-week assignment in Kansas.

About the Job:

  • This assignment requires a highly skilled technician to work alongside cardiologists, radiologists, and other medical staff in the cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab).
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with catheter-based procedures, and ensuring patient safety during complex interventions.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Procedure Preparation
  1. Prepare the cath lab environment by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up.
  2. Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms, before the procedure begins.
  3. Assist in preparing patients, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning for optimal results.
  4. Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure, explaining what will happen and answering questions.
Assisting with Procedures
  1. Assist cardiologists and other physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiological studies, and other interventional procedures.
  2. Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters, balloons, and stents, during the procedure, ensuring correct placement and maintaining a sterile field.
  3. Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests, such as angiograms, to visualize blood vessels and heart function.
  4. Monitor vital signs during procedures and report any abnormalities to the physician.
  5. Administer medications under physician direction, ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
Post-Procedure Care
  1. Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure, such as bleeding, changes in vital signs, or signs of infection.
  2. Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery, ensuring comfort and safety during transport.
  3. Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and the insertion site for any signs of complications.
  4. Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families, including advice on post-operative care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as nursing or cardiovascular technology.
  • Current certification in a relevant area, such as cardiovascular technology or critical care.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or similar setting.

Pay Package:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000, based on a 40-hour workweek and 10-hour shifts, including a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
