Job Overview

Position Summary

The Milling Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of milling machinery within the road construction sector.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy machinery in compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in loading trucks accurately, ensuring loads are balanced and within limits.
  • Adhere to grading specifications, manage slopes, and monitor manholes and valves.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness to ensure the safety of all personnel and equipment in the vicinity; collaborate with ground crew to uphold safety protocols.
  • Operate additional heavy machinery and perform related construction tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is essential.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the road construction industry.
  • 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience operating milling machinery is mandatory.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of milling machines and other heavy construction equipment.
  • Familiarity with the paving industry, road construction materials, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronic systems.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to travel for work assignments as required.
  • Availability for day, night, and weekend shifts as necessary.
  • Overtime may be required based on project needs.
  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors, potentially in adverse weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.
  • Adherence to the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is required.
