ROLE OF A PATIENT ADVOCATEThe Patient Advocate team at Bone and Joint Center, S.C. plays a crucial role in supporting our patients, healthcare providers, and staff. Responsibilities include assisting patients with understanding their financial obligations for services not covered by insurance, clarifying benefits such as Medicare and veteran services, and explaining costs like copays and coinsurance. Our advocates also address concerns regarding subpar care received at other facilities and connect patients with essential resources for transportation, meals, utility bills, and housing assistance.
In addition, our advocates work closely with veteran patients, ensuring all necessary authorizations are in place for services rendered. Each day presents a variety of tasks in a fast-paced setting.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PATIENT ADVOCATE- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with individuals at all levels.
- Collaborative mindset to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues alongside staff.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage challenging interactions constructively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships and resolve conflicts with integrity.
The work schedule for a Patient Advocate typically spans Monday through Friday, with hours ranging from early morning to late afternoon based on operational needs.
