Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Okonite Company is in search of an Electromechanical Systems Engineer, tasked with critical responsibilities that include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving issues with Programmable Logic Controllers to pinpoint potential failures in components and circuit boards.
  • Addressing general electrical control systems, including relays, starters, and contactors, to ensure continuous operation of machinery.
  • Modifying and optimizing programming of machinery controls to enhance product quality and minimize waste.
  • Collaborating across departments to evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects.
  • Identifying and specifying necessary components for upgrades and repairs, liaising with suppliers for parts procurement, and monitoring delivery schedules.
  • Resolving urgent equipment issues as they arise.
  • Planning and overseeing the installation of new machinery, including scheduling and leading installation teams.
  • Coordinating with vendors for timely equipment repairs.
  • Maintaining open communication with relevant departments regarding project timelines, repairs, and downtime requirements.
  • Supporting management objectives while effectively working with union personnel.
  • Advocating for safety and environmental best practices.
  • Participating in administrative meetings and attending additional meetings as required.
  • Performing other related duties as necessary.

Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Plant Engineer/Facilities Manager within the Plant Maintenance Department.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting with a unionized workforce is preferred.
  • Proficient writing skills and familiarity with the MS Office Suite are essential.
  • Willingness to work on off-shifts and/or weekends, with occasional travel as needed.
  • Ability to stand and walk on a manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • Must possess the legal right to work in the U.S.
