Job Description

The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Surveyor II or III to join our team in the Billings District. As a Surveyor II, you will be responsible for performing advanced technical and professional field survey work, serving as party chief for field surveys, and reviewing surveys to ensure accuracy and validity. As a Surveyor III, you will plan and perform professional survey work, including organizing and overseeing survey projects, analyzing evidence to determine boundary locations, and coordinating survey reviews to ensure quality and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced technical and professional field survey work
  • Serve as party chief for field surveys
  • Review surveys to ensure accuracy and validity
  • Plan and perform professional survey work
  • Organize and oversee survey projects
  • Analyze evidence to determine boundary locations
  • Coordinate survey reviews to ensure quality and consistency
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of survey experience
  • Certification as a Land Surveyor Intern (Surveyor II)
  • Registration as a Montana Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) (Surveyor III)
