Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Perinatal Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our obstetrics department, you will provide high-quality care to women during pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

Responsibilities

  • Prenatal Care and Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of pregnant patients, monitor their physical and emotional well-being, and provide education on prenatal care, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Labor and Delivery Care: Monitor labor progress, administer pain management options, and assist with delivery by maintaining a sterile environment and preparing equipment.
  • Fetal Monitoring and Assessment: Continuously monitor fetal heart rate and contractions during labor, assess fetal well-being, and report any abnormal findings.
  • Postpartum Care: Provide immediate postpartum care for mothers and newborns, monitoring vital signs, uterine contraction, and bleeding, and managing potential complications.
  • Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care, including topics like breastfeeding, infant care basics, and family planning.
  • Collaboration with the Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care for patients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alaska
  • Experience in obstetrics or perinatal care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
