We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at Atlantic Heating & Cooling Service. As a Traffic Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic around our construction sites.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Traffic Flow: Utilize hand signals and direction signs to effectively direct traffic around road construction sites.
- Communicate with Team Members: Collaborate with other flaggers and traffic controllers using hand-held radios to manage two-way traffic on a single lane.
- Monitor Traffic Issues: Inform our team crew of any traffic-related concerns that may impact their safety.
- Set Up Traffic Control Measures: Appropriately position warning and detour signs around construction sites, and set up barricades and traffic cones to cordon off specific areas.
- Remove Traffic Control Measures: Remove all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work.
- Assist Construction Crew: Support the construction crew in the removal of rubble, debris, and hazardous materials.
- Record Traffic Violations: Document the license plate numbers of motorists who fail to obey traffic signs and directions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience working as a Traffic Control Specialist.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of state traffic regulations.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and work in harsh weather conditions.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, exceptional observation skills, and effective communication skills.
