Job Summary

As a Surgical Technician II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, you will assist in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing support to the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning, draping, and ensuring proper anesthesia administration.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by following established protocols for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment and supplies.
  • Provide support to the surgical team by passing instruments, suturing, and assisting with patient transfer and positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to ensure accurate patient identification, correct procedure execution, and timely completion of surgical procedures.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities, including quality improvement initiatives and education programs.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in operating room scrubbing or equivalent military experience, including a variety of surgical procedures.
  • Graduate of an approved surgical technologist or military equivalent program.
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or National Center for Competency Testing Certificate - Technologist in Surgery from National Center for Competency Testing.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
