Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Surgery Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose patient needs to provide quality care to assigned patients
  • Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other
  • Implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient
  • Evaluate the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses to ensure overall quality of care delivered
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team
  • Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure
  • Function as a role model for current and new staff
  • Perform all responsibilities/duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of nursing
  • Current WV nursing license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS required for Med/Surg, OR, and ED
  • PALS required for OR and ED
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS and PALS
  • One (1) year direct patient care experience as an RN

  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
