As a Physician I with the University of Texas Medical Branch, you will provide professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients and employees injured as a result of TDCJ-ID work-related activities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complete medical histories and physician examinations, form clinical impressions based on findings, order diagnostic tests, interpret results of laboratory tests and radiological examinations, prescribe medications, and render treatments appropriate to clinical impressions.
- Inspect, complete, and analyze medical records, assign, review, and update medical classifications, complete admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and make rounds on patients admitted to infirmaries or regional medical facilities.
- Refer patients to specialists for consultations, evaluations, and treatments.
- Serve in rotation with other physicians to provide after-hours and weekend patient care.
- May directly supervise all physicians and mid-level practitioners.
- Oversee and manage all operations of the unit's medical department, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and court orders.
Located within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
