Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedic Trauma team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with our orthopedic surgeons to manage orthopedic trauma patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform physical examinations, compile medical data, and record medical history to implement treatment plans for new and established patients.
  • Conduct Emergency Department and inpatient consultations to ensure timely and effective patient care.
  • Coordinate logistics with OR Rounds on inpatient trauma patients to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Order diagnostic studies as needed to inform treatment decisions.
  • Provide patient education and instructions on treatment plans and medications.
  • Consult with physicians as necessary to assess patient condition and treatment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of medical charts and administrative paperwork.
  • Provide continuity of care upon discharge and follow-up care according to practice guidelines.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant bachelor's or master's degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant national certification program.
  • Current West Virginia Physician Assistant License required.
  • Exhibits evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills, and problem-solving abilities, and commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care.
  • Must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the WV Board of Pharmacy and the DEA and must have past surgical and/or critical care experience of at least 1 year in a hospital-based setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years Physician Assistant experience required. Experience must include past surgical and/or critical care experience of at least 1 year in a hospital-based setting.
