The Practice Assistant II plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient daily operation of the Ambulatory Infusion Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital. This position collaborates with the Practice Manager and Practice Coordinator to maintain patient scheduling, referrals, and specialty pharmacy medication coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Patient registration, scheduling, and billing processes for the department
- Partnership with the Prior Authorization team to ensure maintenance of patient insurance approvals for scheduled appointments
- Leading initiatives to create a high level of customer service by working closely with all staff and providers to create the ideal patient experience and environment
- Meets and greets patients regularly, throughout the day
- Ensures the Patient Information Area is properly maintained as a resource for patients
- Supports the Practice Manager and Practice Coordinator on development and implementation of process improvement initiatives and new projects
- Demonstrates knowledge and promotes administrative and employee policies
- High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Clinical Operations and Scheduling experience preferred, ideally within Infusion or in Ambulatory Healthcare Practice Environment
- Knowledge of practice operations and standards
- Understanding of procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing
- Highly proficient in all communication skills (phone, verbal, and written)
Works in a Hospital-based Ambulatory Practice. Normal patient environments where there are some exposures to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, needle, and blood products.
