Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Athens Services. As a key member of our Fleet Maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing expert diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues to our operation fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure our vehicles and equipment are in top working condition.
  • Conduct thorough inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to roadside emergencies and perform repairs as directed by supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, including documentation of parts usage and repair times.
  • Participate in safety and compliance training to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school certification or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications.
  • Familiarity with DOT and CHP repair processes and controls for Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey mechanical issues and required repairs.
  • Ability to work safely and in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • ASE Tire Certification.
  • Welder Certification.
  • Brakes Certification.
  • CNG/LNG alternative fuel training.
  • CDL Class A/B with air brake endorsement.
  • Computer diagnostic skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
  • Physical:
    • Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously.
    • Problem solving, oral communication, analytical ability, concentration, exposure to heavy machinery, and eye/hand coordination continuously.
    • Bending, reaching, stretching, crouching, and lifting ≤ 50 Lbs. continuously.
    • Exposure to unprotected heights occasionally.
  • Environmental:
    • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions, and noise continuously.
    • Works inside and outside.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly rate: $35.70-$36.95.
