We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Analyst – Tier 3 (Cloud) to become an integral part of our skilled and dynamic team, focusing on a significant Federal Government project.

In the role of Cybersecurity Analyst – Tier 3 (Cloud), you will be essential in protecting the digital resources of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and addressing potential cyber threats. Your primary responsibility will involve supporting the Incident Response team in the investigation and resolution of advanced and intricate cyber incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the detection engineering team to implement and optimize new cloud detection technologies, including Azure Sentinel, AWS Guard Duty, and Netskope CASB.
  • Create comprehensive playbooks for cloud incident response.
  • Lead and engage in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of Tier 3 and escalated cybersecurity incidents, analyzing attack patterns, identifying root causes, and recommending suitable remediation strategies.
  • Act as a cloud subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts during investigations.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of incident response activities, including analyses, actions taken, and lessons learned, while collaborating with knowledge management teams to keep incident response playbooks current.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including forensics, threat intelligence, IT, and network administrators, to communicate technical information and incident updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement advanced security analytics use cases to detect and respond to sophisticated cyber threats in real-time.
  • Regularly monitor the performance of security analytics and automation processes, identifying improvement opportunities and taking proactive measures to enhance effectiveness.
  • Utilize Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms to streamline and automate incident response processes, including enrichment, containment, and remediation actions.
  • Support the training and mentoring of junior incident response staff.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices, actively participating in cybersecurity exercises, drills, and simulations to enhance incident response capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale IT projects.
  • 3+ years of experience in incident response within an enterprise-level Security Operations Center (SOC), including monitoring cloud environments.
  • A comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles and incident response methodologies, with a proactive approach to ensure effective SOC operations in high-pressure situations.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCFA, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong experience with security technologies, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience with enterprise ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to identify errors, determine root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Capacity to learn and adapt quickly in various roles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
