Job Title: Dental Hygienist

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Dental Hygienist to join our team at Meridian Health Services. As a key member of our dental office, you will provide skilled dental assistant duties, services, or capacities under the supervision of a licensed dentist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform under Access Practice Agreement and Prescriptive Hygiene functions.
  • Perform all hygiene duties outlined by the supervising dentist.
  • Obtain preliminary dental history, make observations, assessments, and record appropriate findings.
  • Prepare patient for the complete dental examination by the dentist.
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding dental hygiene, tooth decay prevention, gum disease, etc.
  • Scale teeth.
  • Refer patients as appropriate.
  • Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between clinic visits as required.
  • Remain current in advanced practice changes within area, and where relevant, translate these findings into clinical practice.
  • Follow infection control guidelines and ensure adherence to OSHA and CLIA protocols due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of PCER guidelines.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth through participation in relevant educational endeavors and appropriate associations.
  • Maintain CPR certification and re-licensure requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in-services as required. Serve on committees as requested.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures concerning corporate compliance, including privacy of protected health information.
  • Perform related work as required and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • Current Indiana State Dental Hygiene License.
  • Dental Radiographer license obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Two years' experience as a dental hygienist preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
