As a Healthcare Insurance Liaison, you will oversee the entire patient journey for new clients, starting from their initial inquiry to their first appointment. You will be the primary point of contact for new patients, ensuring they transition smoothly into our care. This role involves tracking referrals and authorizations, as well as communicating vital information to various team members, including the billing department and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and organize incoming referrals from insurance providers, other healthcare professionals, and workers' compensation.
- Conduct insurance benefit verifications by contacting insurance companies or utilizing online resources to assess patient coverage.
- Address any discrepancies with insurance providers and collaborate with the billing team to resolve issues.
- Engage with patients to explain their benefits and assist them in scheduling appointments.
- Efficiently onboard new patients by entering their demographic and insurance information, and ensuring all necessary documents are uploaded.
- Coordinate and manage referrals for all patients.
- Follow up with existing patients regarding new referrals and appointment scheduling.
- Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate processing of claims and payments.
- Maintain accurate visit counts for all insurance patients and request additional visits as necessary.
- Develop and oversee a referral request system, ensuring effective communication and workflow among providers, reception, and insurance coordinators.
- Guide providers and receptionists regarding patient referrals, insurance coverage, and payment matters.
- Annually update patient insurance information and perform regular checks throughout the year to ensure accuracy.
- Be available to assist clinical staff with any issues related to new patient coordination, insurance, and referrals.
- Provide administrative support for workers' compensation cases, aiding staff in navigating the complexities of the system.
- Participate in regular team meetings to enhance communication and collaboration.
Part-time Employee Benefits:

Qualifications:
- Preferred experience of at least 1 year in a supervisory role within a medical office setting.
- Preferred knowledge of California medical health insurance for a minimum of 2 years.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR), scheduling software, and telecommunication systems.
- Experience navigating California medical insurance, including HMO managed care and PPOs.
- Background in medical office insurance billing.
- Access to reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated, HIPAA-compliant workspace.
- Availability to work during standard business hours.
