Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of procedures to obtain diagnoses using ultrasound technology.

Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment properly and ensure exams are performed according to departmental protocol.
  • Perform ultrasound procedures according to provider's written order, complete history and consent forms, and obtain authorized signatures prior to beginning exams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and technical factors for obtaining scans with minimal retakes.
  • Ensure correct documentation, imprint patient ID on images, and enter correct patient charges by the end of the shift.
  • Work closely with radiologists during special procedures and biopsies, summarize exam findings on a report worksheet, and communicate impressions to radiologists at the completion of each exam.
  • Demonstrate a sense of responsibility and maturity when on call, follow departmental QA standards, and maintain, clean, and restock assigned rooms.
  • Assist supervisors with instruction of new personnel and students, participate in performance improvement activities, and exhibit knowledge and basic understanding of patient needs and cultural requirements.
Requirements
  • Completion of formal Ultrasound Technology training in a school approved by the American Medical Association and/or registered by the ARDMS.
  • Registered in Abdominal and Vascular Technology Boards by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography within one year of employment.
  • ARRT registration preferred, BLS certification required, and one-year experience as an Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist preferred.
