Job Summary

The Resident Assistant is a vital member of the Recovery Campus Team at the Nisqually Indian Tribe's Behavioral Health Program. This role is responsible for supporting the transitional living program residents and ensuring the recovery houses are safe and up to code.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily care and maintenance of the recovery house.
  • Help manage and acquire donated supplies, including food, clothes, and other essential items.
  • Facilitate recovery house meetings and provide support to residents.
  • Attend weekly case staffing's and contribute to the development of individualized plans.
  • Represent the Nisqually Indian Tribe at community events and groups as directed by the supervisor.
  • Provide transportation for clients as requested by the supervisor.
  • Research and obtain community resources to support residents.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Engage in community education and outreach activities as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and insurability under the Nisqually Indian Tribe's insurance policy.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds regularly and perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Professional attitude and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in a related field.
  • One year of experience working in the Behavioral Health field.
  • Experience working with Tribes and Native Communities.
Other Requirements

The successful candidate must authorize and complete a background check prior to employment and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Additionally, they must be able to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of employment.

Supervision

This position does not supervise other employees.

Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of recovery-focused, strengths-based work in mental health and addiction recovery. They will also have skills in working with diverse individuals, operating personal computers, and using job-related software. The ability to understand each member's unique circumstances and incorporate them into daily work is essential.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include moderate to light physical activity both indoors and outdoors. The employee must be able to operate a personal computer and related office equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
