G&W Electric is a global leader in engineered electrical power grid solutions, and we're seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Engineer I to join our team. As a key member of our design improvement projects, you'll participate in the development of innovative solutions for our existing products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the technical side of projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Design and develop components for Medium Voltage switchgear, adhering to strict specifications.
- Collaborate with purchasing and vendors to select and approve component parts and assemblies.
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies, ensuring compliance with change management, validation, and approval processes.
- Prepare detailed documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activity.
- Provide engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing teams on new and existing products and processes.
- Develop project schedules, coordinate, and manage projects of varying sizes with minimal supervision.
- Direct lower-level technical personnel, including CAD Designers, CAD Operators, and Technicians.
- Consult with customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications.
- Prepare budgetary and resource information for projects or parts of projects within your area of responsibility.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or development.
- Experience with project management and team management.
- Root-cause analysis and computer analysis programs (FEA, kinematic & dynamic analysis).
- Able to create innovative designs and use small hand and power tools.
- Experience with PRO-E or other 3-D CAD systems, PCB Design, and schematic design.
- Good understanding of statics and material properties.
- Ability to effectively communicate and write technical documents.
