Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at ECHN. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing respiratory therapy modalities, and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform safe and effective respiratory therapy modalities, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessment and medical orders.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  • Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and suctioning equipment.
  • Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, as well as administer medications and draw and analyze blood gases.
  • Interpret arterial blood gas and oximetry results, and differentiate between patient and equipment problems.
  • Document and communicate all patient therapies, including concerns and education needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications desirable.
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
  • Ability to work well with others in a multi-task, fast-paced patient care environment.
Competencies
  • Strong focus on customer service and ability to exhibit patience and empathy while providing care to a culturally diverse group of patients.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write using the English language.
  • Effective verbal communication with patients, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Effective written communication for accurate medical charting of respiratory services provided and concurrently clear and precise medical billing.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites.
