Job Summary:

As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications to our patients. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will be responsible for dispensing, compounding, procuring, storing, and distributing pharmacy products. You will also provide pharmaceutical care for hospitalized or ambulatory patients, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Assess patient data and interpret relevant information to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Dispense, compound, procure, store, package, and distribute pharmacy products according to laws, regulations, standards, established policies, and procedures.
  • Interview patients to obtain information regarding medication use, medication allergies, and sensitivities.
  • Advise patients on directions for use, medication storage requirements, importance of compliance, precautions, and warnings for medication therapy.
  • Substitute for pharmacy personnel as necessary.
  • Evaluate and resolve potential medication therapy problems identified through any available sources.
  • Confer with medical personnel concerning pharmaceutical care and treatment of patients.
Requirements:
  • Licensed as an Intern Pharmacist by the State of California.
  • Excellent verbal and written English-speaking communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
  • Ability to extract pertinent information from patients or other sources and relate it to their medical management plan.
  • Ability to learn and operate pharmacy computer systems and other equipment.
Work Environment:

This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week. The work schedule is variable, with shifts occurring on weekdays and weekends. The work environment is fast-paced and requires standing for long periods of time, reading fine print, communicating with coworkers and patients, lifting/transporting 1-50lbs, and performing other physical demands.
