About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer - Power Systems to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-voltage substation design projects for utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, potential and current schematics, control schematics, alarm schematics, and communications schematics for high-voltage substation projects.
  • Develop protection and control specifications, I/O mapping, points mapping, and relay settings as required.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations are met.
  • Work seamlessly with a P&C Designer to develop schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinate efforts with other design disciplines, such as transmission line engineers, distribution line engineers, and telecom engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of related work experience in high-voltage substation design - P&C.
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation.
  • Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Good knowledge of industry and technology trends specific to substations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire.
  • Experience in developing relay settings and protection device coordination.
  • Proficient in use of ASPEN One Liner, CYME Dist, or similar programs.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability.
  • Experience with proposal writing and project estimating.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes.
