About the RoleWe are seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Environmental Preservation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting staff with report submittals and coordinating cultural resources fieldwork for various programs and clients. This will include archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, construction monitoring, report and section writing, Department of Parks and Recreation 523 site record forms, and other tasks as assigned.
Your Key Responsibilities- Manage Tasks and Projects: You will be responsible for managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and delivering quality reports on schedule and within budget.
- Interact with Clients and Regulators: You will interact and interface with clients and environmental regulators, providing expert advice and guidance on environmental preservation practices.
- Participate in HSSE Policies: You will participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
- Assignments/Projects: Assignments/projects are advanced in nature and require following the instructions of senior staff.
- Planning and Conducting Assignments: You will be responsible for planning and conducting assignments/projects having broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasks.
- Archaeological Survey: You will have knowledge of archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery methods.
- Providing Recommendations: You will be able to provide well-reasoned recommendations as to site eligibility and integrity.
- Construction Monitoring: You will have experience with construction monitoring.
- Technical Writing: You will be able to provide technical writing services.
- Representing Stantec: You will be capable of representing Stantec in interactions with clients, agency personnel, and Native American tribal members.
- Coordinating with GIS Staff: You will be able to coordinate with GIS staff, PIs, or project managers to collect and manage field data and forms.
- Participating in HSSE Policies: You will participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
- Valid Driver's License: You will have a good driving record and a valid driver's license.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in Archaeology, or a related field. No experience in Cultural Resource Management is required, but experience in California is preferred. This position is primarily field-based, requiring the ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for extended periods of time (1+ weeks). Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather, and the ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
