We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Photographer to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As an Ophthalmic Photographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical imaging services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient examinations using various imaging equipment, including fluorescein angiograms, fundus photos, corneal topography, external ocular photos, and videotapes of ocular motility.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of computer databases of patient history and diagnosis.
- Maintain photo records, equipment, and supply inventory.
- Communicate effectively with patients and customers, adjusting to their needs and respecting their individuality.
- Operate various imaging devices, including Zeiss OCT, Zeiss Visucam, Optovue, Heidelberg, Haag-Strait Lenstar, Optos, Slit-Lamp Camera, Pentacam, and other equipment with training when necessary.
- Obtain measurements of the intraocular lens with the IOL master.
- Assist with orders for photographic and medical supplies as needed in the imaging suite.
- Check equipment and inform management when equipment needs repair or preventative maintenance.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Successful completion of an accredited program for Ophthalmic Technicians.
- One year of satisfactory work experience under ophthalmological supervision.
- Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health personnel in Ophthalmology or equivalent.
- One year of hands-on experience with using all necessary imaging devices to care for the Ophthalmology patient population.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Required.
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred or within 2 years of employment.
This is a full-time position, 1.0 FTE, working 8 hours a day, 9:30am - 6:00pm. The position is non-union and requires on-call shifts. The employee will work 100% at the Hyde Park campus and will be scheduled to work between Monday – Friday.
