Job Summary

Virtua is seeking a highly skilled Wound Care Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care needs related to gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary disorders, leading to the development of individualized plans of care.
  • Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimes related to wound, ostomy, or continence.
  • Effectively manage rapidly changing situations and participate in clinical decision-making.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.
  • Delegate and monitor care rendered by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
  • Participate in orientation, education, and development of healthcare team members.
  • Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain professional and departmental level competencies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve highest clinical quality.
Requirements
  • Valid NJ RN License.
  • Current board certification as WOC (ET) nurse (CWOCN) by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board or presently enrolled in WOCN accredited ET program with certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Perfects skills and stays abreast of current nursing practice through ongoing education, journals, etc.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts of a team of care providers.
