Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist - Patient Care Specialist assesses, plans, administers, and evaluates patients receiving all respiratory care modalities as ordered by a physician or as delineated by Medical Center protocols. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, this professional provides emergency, critical care, and general care respiratory services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights
  • Ensures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care
  • Documents in a clear and legible manner
  • Accurately documents verbal orders with read back
  • Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care
  • Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients, family, and significant others while providing care

Requirements

  • NJ Respiratory License, RRT or CRT
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical terminology
  • Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push, and pull
