About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at St. David's Medical Center, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for assigned patients, ensuring a clean, efficient, and safe environment within the work area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete an age-appropriate assessment on each assigned patient and create a specific plan of care upon patient arrival
  • Obtain supplies, equipment, and medication needed for patient care
  • Monitor the patient throughout the recovery phase
  • Administer IV therapy
  • Recognize and report variations in patient condition to the appropriate individuals (physician, anesthesiologist, clinical nurse coordinator)
  • Make rounds to check equipment cleanliness and appropriate storage
  • Monitor narcotic and medication control

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)/critical care

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) certification
  • Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
