The Smidt Heart Institute boasts a renowned team of specialists who are redefining cardiovascular treatment in the nation. Our approach combines empathetic care with a nimble research framework, providing patients with access to groundbreaking therapies.

Our faculty and attending physicians possess extensive expertise across various fields, including transplantation, stem cell therapy, congenital heart conditions, women's cardiovascular health, valve disorders, arrhythmias, and hypertension.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is entrusted with the nursing process, overseeing clinical practices, engaging in research, providing consultative services, and facilitating interdepartmental collaboration, education, leadership, and comprehensive patient care management throughout the healthcare spectrum, from preventive measures to acute care and discharge.

The role of a Nurse Practitioner involves both autonomous decision-making and teamwork with board-certified or eligible physicians to deliver exceptional care to patients.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care hospital (preferred).
  • Prior experience in cardiac care or cardiac surgery is highly desirable.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
