Electrical Engineer Job Description

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution global practice in Akron, Ohio. As a key member of our team, you will lead the electrical design of projects from conceptual phase to design completion, working closely with project managers to research, design, and compile project-related data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the electrical design of projects, applying subject matter expertise of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Partner with project managers to research, design, and compile project-related data.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Lead the creation of project deliverables, including device configurations, network architecture diagrams, and specifications.
  • Utilize innovative tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3D scanning, and model-based design.
  • Modify and review construction drawings and client presentations for various projects.
  • Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.
  • Perform design quality reviews.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • 7 years of electrical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.
