Description

Vincennes University is in search of candidates for the role of Mathematics Academic Support Specialist. This part-time position is situated within the Early College framework at the Lawrenceburg High School site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalized academic assistance in college-level mathematics, specifically in algebra and trigonometry, through one-on-one sessions, group settings, or classroom environments.
  • Collaborate with local educators and online university faculty to track and enhance the academic performance of students facing challenges in their coursework.
  • Support classroom teachers by aiding students in grasping complex concepts and materials.
  • Offer additional resources and support to bolster student learning outcomes.
  • Assess and record student progress using established tracking systems.
  • Promote a college-oriented atmosphere within the Early College High School by actively engaging in student recruitment for tutoring services and conducting orientations and classroom visits.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to devise effective study strategies that enable students to successfully navigate their courses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software.
  • Demonstrated mathematical proficiency to assist students in college-level mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • A math proficiency assessment will be conducted to verify mathematical competencies.
While part-time staff members are not eligible for the University's benefits package, applicable taxes will be deducted from their compensation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
