Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

Weber School District is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will work with children and adolescents ranging in age from 3-21, providing diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of speech and language disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and Treat Speech and Language Disorders: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech and language disorders, and develop individualized treatment plans to address these needs.
  • Create Treatment and Therapy Plans: Design and implement treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of students, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Educate Parents and Family Members: Provide education and support to parents and family members about speech disorders, disabilities, and traumatic events, empowering them to support their child's communication needs.
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop IEPs that meet the unique needs of students, and report progress to parents and teachers.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Foster strong relationships with parents, teachers, and other school staff to ensure effective communication and support for students.
  • Work Cooperatively with IEP Teams: Collaborate with administration, psychologists, healthcare professionals, and other IEP team members to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Utilize Technology: Leverage various computer operating systems and software programs to support student learning and communication.
  • Implement District Policies: Adhere to district and school policies, as well as state and federal laws, to ensure compliance and effective support for students.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Process and maintain confidential files, as required by state and federal laws, to protect student information.
  • Record Student Progress: Maintain accurate records of assessment, attendance, and progress to evaluate student learning and report to parents, students, and supervisors as needed.
  • Follow Directions: Understand and follow both oral and written directions to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work within Established Schedules: Meet necessary timelines and work within established schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain Flexibility: Adapt to changes in staff or individual student programs, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to student success.
  • Attend District Meetings: Participate in required district meetings and events to stay informed and engaged.
  • Drive to School Sites: Safely transport yourself to school sites within the district.
  • Attend Work Consistently: Regularly attend work and maintain a consistent schedule to ensure effective support for students.
  • Demonstrate Professional Ethics: Uphold professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
  • Conform to District Policies: Adhere to district policies, including attendance, absences, and evaluations.
  • Perform Other Related Duties: Complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or administrators.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders: Possess a degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
  • Current Educator License in the State of Utah: Hold a valid educator license in the State of Utah.
  • Previous Experience in Special Education or Related Field: Preferably have experience working in special education or a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License, Operational Vehicle, and Insurance: Possess a valid driver's license, an operational vehicle, and insurance.
