POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Mechanical Estimator plays a vital role in supporting the sales division by formulating project scopes and pricing for our mechanical product offerings. This position is essential in aiding the operations team with project initiation, transition, and oversight, ensuring an efficient workflow and successful project execution.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist outside sales personnel with job takeoff and pricing.
  • Coordinate project timelines and facilitate the transition to operations.
  • Provide customer service to both existing and prospective clients.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

60% Support outside sales personnel in job takeoff and pricing:
  • Collaborate with Sales personnel to develop control system layouts and operational sequences for upcoming projects.
  • Examine plans, specifications, addendums, and bid timelines for projects.
  • Prepare take-offs, estimates, and pricing for mechanical products and services.
  • Create project scope of work documents.
  • Facilitate bids across various product lines.
30% Coordinate project timelines and facilitate transition to operations:
  • Update internal and external databases to monitor all sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate the handoff of project information to the operations department for accurate submission.
  • Ensure all necessary information is available during project handoff meetings.
  • Manage price change orders as required.
10% Provide customer service to existing and prospective clients:
  • Assist clients with product or service-related inquiries and provide appropriate solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in mechanical equipment, engineering systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and HVAC concepts is preferred.
  • Previous experience in sales is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations and data analysis.
  • Aptitude for building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in programming functions.
  • Strong contracting skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to local job sites.
  • Commitment to continuous training and development to remain informed about products and processes.
