Your Role

We are in search of a knowledgeable and adaptable part-time Pharmacist to become a vital part of our dynamic team. Successful candidates will engage with qualified medical cannabis patients throughout New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate cannabis-based medications as per physician directives, identifying any therapeutic incompatibilities; conduct individual patient consultations to determine optimal therapy in collaboration with the recommending provider.
  • Collaborate with and provide ongoing training to Patient Care Coordinators (PCC) and healthcare professionals regarding cannabis-based medicines; dispense medications based on the established formulary.
  • Oversee medication management by monitoring drug therapies and advising on necessary interventions.
  • Fulfill dispensary operational duties by organizing and directing PCC workflow, verifying order entries, charges, and conducting inspections.
  • Manage inventory rotation and control.
  • Offer pharmacological insights by addressing inquiries from healthcare professionals; counsel patients on their medication therapies.
  • Supervise students from affiliated Schools of Pharmacy.
  • Adhere to state regulations as mandated by the medical cannabis program, maintaining records for controlled substances; remove outdated and damaged medications from inventory; oversee the work of support staff; ensure current pharmacist registration.
  • Uphold a safe and clean work environment by following established procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Enhance pharmacological knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing professional literature, building personal networks, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrate pharmacist skills including information analysis, medication administration, sound judgment, effective verbal communication, and legal compliance.
  • Availability to work on weekends is required.
  • Management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Pharmacist license in good standing with the State of New York.
  • Experience in both clinical and retail environments with a focus on customer service is preferred.
  • Additional training in Cannabis-Based Medicine is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other necessary software.
  • Capability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in mentoring new hires or PharmD students is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and medical professionals.
  • Reliable attendance and responsible time management are essential.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Capacity to work independently and proactively.
  • Skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understanding and adherence to organizational policies and state regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
