Job Opportunity: Breakfast Cook

We are seeking a skilled Breakfast Cook to join our culinary team at Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Our hotel boasts 25 oceanfront acres, 217 rooms and suites, five restaurants, boating, a private beach, full-service spa, 8-acre farm, and endless recreation activities.

The Breakfast Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast menu items for various restaurants. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the highest quality of products served
  • Following standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen rules
  • Stocking and maintaining food levels at line stations
  • Portioning food according to recipes
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work station
  • Preparing items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, etc.
  • Following proper plate presentation and garnish setup
  • Handling, storing, and rotating products correctly
  • Completing tasks within assigned time frames
  • Tracking and reporting food waste
  • Assisting in food prep during off-peak periods
  • Opening and/or closing the kitchen properly, following checklists
  • Cooking items from the point-of-sale system
  • Assisting with washing dishes, preparing recycling, cleaning, and projects
  • Attending employee meetings and suggesting improvements
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of culinary experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training
  • Clear and effective communication in English
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through with tasks
  • Remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment
  • Work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks professionally
  • Team player
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Follow and adjust recipes
  • Good knife skills
  • Properly season food
  • Follow all processes
  • Read contracts and order tickets
