As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the retail public, ensuring compliance with applicable state law and company policy, and accurately identifying and pricing non-ferrous scrap metal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet and assist retail customers in purchasing non-ferrous scrap metal, creating a positive customer experience and ensuring excellent customer service skills.
  • Material Identification: Accurately identify the various non-ferrous scrap materials and grade accordingly, understanding the different pricing of materials and validating proper identification and paperwork from retail customers.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct monthly retail inventory and identify non-conforming or unacceptable types of scrap material.
  • Operational Efficiency: Follow and enforce all buying procedures and best practices to ensure compliance with local and state laws as well as Company policy, and operate small material handling equipment as necessary to move materials for processing.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Clean and maintain work area, and follow company safety standards at all times, wearing all necessary PPE while working or while in the yard.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Previous experience requiring customer service to public, vendors or internal contacts.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent customer service skills, strong organizational skills with attention to details, ability to be flexible and display a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment, and basic math and computer skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Willingness to work Monday to Friday and Saturdays as required, willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, and ability to effectively interact with customers and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Scrap Materials: Knowledge of scrap materials a plus.
