Senior Lifeguard

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Fairfield, CA. As a Senior Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our pool patrons.

The Senior Lifeguard will be responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

• Conduct continuous surveillance of the pool area to prevent accidents and enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Respond quickly to emergency situations and provide first aid as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to pool patrons, including answering questions and resolving issues.
• Lead and motivate lower-level lifeguards to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and clean environment.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess a valid American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training with Administering Emergency Oxygen certification.
• Must possess a valid ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification.
• Must have a minimum of one full season of experience as a Lifeguard II with the City of Fairfield.

The Senior Lifeguard will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, sun, water, and chemicals. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk frequently, lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

The Senior Lifeguard must be able to perform the following physical demands:

• Sit or stand for long periods.
• Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk frequently.
• Lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is the advanced journey level class in which incumbents take the leadership role in customer service and emergency situations, and oversee and motivate the Lifeguards on duty.
