Job Summary:

As an MRI Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, you will perform a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and quality of patient images, and your ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will be invaluable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities on patients of all ages, adjusting scanning parameters as needed to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
  • Effectively perform Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats, and MIP imaging, as well as specialized exams such as MRA runoffs and post arthrogram work-ups.
  • Use magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patients and yourself, following established protocols and scanning techniques.
  • Photograph, archive, and retrieve images, and identify each patient, review their requisition, and record pertinent data on the MRI requisition at all times.
  • Responsible for performing comprehensive screening of patients and other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room, and effectively explain the dangers associated with implants and devices.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patients following the procedure.
  • Maintain daily patient MRI logs, documenting patient information accurately to ensure the quality of patient care.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize patient care and set priorities, providing critical care first and implementing physician orders.
  • Perform proper computer skills and show working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges, and profiles.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of experience as an MRI technologist, or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required; however, for new hires in classification, must be obtained within 12 months of hire with one year recent experience as a Radiologic technologist with ARRT required.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate required.
  • Basic Life Support required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Venipuncture competency check off required within 3 months of hire.
  • Required to stand, push, pull, and lift patients.
  • Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
  • May be required to lift objects heavier than 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills, and hand-eye coordination skills.
  • Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of customer-focused service requirements of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members and coworkers.
  • Proficiency in applicable computer software.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
