THE ROLE
As a Culinary Station Leader, you will deliver the consistent and high-quality dishes that our patrons expect. You will collaborate with your colleagues to ensure a memorable dining experience for every guest.
YOUR DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Thoroughly understanding every menu item (including portion sizes, cooking techniques, quality standards, and kitchen protocols); taking full responsibility for the quality of the dishes served.
- Working closely with the Chef to ensure absolute consistency in every dish presented.
- Managing timing effectively to ensure all orders are completed promptly.
- Maintaining focus on assigned tasks and communicating consistently with team members.
- Preparing your station and assisting others with preparation as needed.
- Keeping your workstation organized and well-stocked.
- Practicing safe knife handling; seeking training from the Chef if necessary.
- Assisting with the organization of deliveries when required.
- Being capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Properly opening and closing the kitchen, adhering to the checklist for kitchen stations, and ensuring a manager inspects your station before leaving.
- Arriving on time and in full uniform for all scheduled shifts, including mandatory meetings.
- Following all policies outlined in the employee handbook.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
YOU WILL EXCEL AT MERRILL & HOUSTON'S STEAK JOINT IF
- You possess at least one year of kitchen experience (preferred but not mandatory).
- You have basic arithmetic skills (able to add and subtract).
- You demonstrate clear handwriting, strong customer service abilities, and effective verbal communication skills.
YOU ARE WELL-PREPARED IF
You can regularly stand, use your hands for various tasks, and reach with your arms. The role often requires lifting, carrying, and delivering items weighing up to 50 pounds. If over 18, you will be expected to operate slicers and heavy equipment. The work environment can be hot and demanding. You should be able to navigate smoothly through dining and kitchen areas, attend work as scheduled, and work various shifts during regular business hours. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: Non-slip shoes.
YOU MUST ALSO POSSESS: U.S. Work Authorization (required).
