Key Responsibilities:- Transporting freight to and from designated locations as directed by company dispatch.
- Strategically planning travel routes to ensure timely delivery of all shipments.
- Reviewing dispatch instructions prior to deliveries to avoid errors or miscommunications.
- Conducting thorough inspections of the assigned truck before and after each delivery to confirm mechanical soundness.
- Promptly reporting any mechanical issues that may compromise the truck's roadworthiness to management.
- Maintaining a detailed logbook that accurately reflects hours worked, rest periods, and mileage.
- Submitting cargo documentation to clients and securing their signatures to confirm receipt of the correct freight.
- Notifying dispatch of any instances of damaged cargo.
- Overseeing the safe loading and unloading of freight.
- Must possess an operational truck.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a tractor-trailer driver training program is beneficial.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL-A) is required.
- Clean driving record is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in truck driving.
- Comprehensive understanding of road safety regulations, loading and unloading protocols, and weight limitations.
- Proficiency in using GPS systems, road maps, and routing software.
- Ability to maintain focus over extended periods.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
Gilliam Transport Services, LLC is a growing trucking company. We do not require our independent operators to reside in the state of operation. Ownership of equipment is essential for onboarding with our organization.
