We are seeking a reliable and skilled Safe Transportation Professional to operate school buses on assigned routes and schedules.
About the RoleAs a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school. This includes operating a school bus on assigned routes, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintaining discipline among students.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and school bus regulations.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition and report any mechanical defects or failures to the proper authority.
- Maintain discipline among students by establishing a clear and progressive plan of consequences for misbehavior and rewards for good behavior.
- Report undisciplined students to the proper authority and discharge students only at authorized school or bus stop locations.
- Keep the school bus clean and free of safety hazards, and transport only authorized students.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with both a P(passenger) and S(school bus) endorsement. You should also have considerable knowledge of safe and efficient practices and procedures used in the operation of a school bus, as well as the ability to inspect the bus according to Transportation Operating Instructions.
A high school diploma or equivalent combination of experience and training is required. Additionally, you must be physically able to operate a school bus, decelerate it rapidly in an emergency situation, and perform basic life functions such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
