We are seeking a skilled professional to perform intake assessments for individuals entering county human service programs. As an Intake Coordinator, you will provide daytime and after-hours coverage for protective services of Children and Youth Services. The primary function of the after-hours work is to assure immediate safety of children through the provision of assessment and referral to community-based services.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting intake or assessment interviews to determine immediate needs of children and families. You will also provide crisis and/or supportive counseling to stabilize children and families. Additionally, you will provide walk-in, telephone, and mobile crisis intervention services to children and families. Your role will involve investigating allegations of sexual abuse, assessing risk, assuring safety, and making referrals for ongoing treatment. You will assess individuals for need of emergency mental health services and provide information, referral, and other required services to individuals and/or families of developmental disabilities or substance abuse services. Your duties will include developing and implementing service plans for individuals based on preventing further abuse from occurring. You will also maintain accurate documentation and records on individuals, attend court hearings, and write reports as needed. Furthermore, you will testify in court regarding children's needs and prepare summaries for court as requested.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to think clearly and act decisively in high-stress situations. You should possess initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to function independently and work effectively with individuals, co-workers, and others. Your role involves rapid establishment of rapport with individuals having behavioral health, substance abuse, or intellectual challenges. You should have some knowledge of the judicial and court system as it relates to child services. This position requires transportation available and a willingness to travel for work-related job duties.
