Job Summary

We are seeking a Food Service Worker to join our team at UC Davis Health System. As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for performing a full range of kitchen, customer areas, and bathrooms cleaning tasks. This includes washing pots, dishes, and equipment by hand and with industrial dishwashers, as well as using hand tools to sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, dust, polish silverware, and vacuum.

Key Responsibilities
  • 60% - Food Service Cleaning & Stocking: Clean and stock food service areas, including kitchens, dining rooms, and bathrooms.
  • 20% - Customer Services & Professional Communication: Provide excellent customer service to residents and guests, and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • 15% - Safety & Sanitation: Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including adhering to proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • 5% - General Restroom Cleaning: Clean and maintain restrooms, including restocking supplies and ensuring proper hygiene.
Requirements
  • Customer service experience in a retail and/or food service setting.
  • Experience washing pots/pans/dishes in a service-oriented setting.
  • Experience cleaning and maintaining sanitation and safety of a retail or food service environment.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in written form.
  • Knowledge of proper procedures for lifting, handling broken glass, and using wet floor signs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience checking food temperatures throughout all HACCP steps.
  • Ability to guide a wide range of tasks to student assistants and kitchen support staff.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with and provide excellent customer service to a diverse campus community.
Work Environment

This is a per diem appointment, with no permanent schedule or shift assigned. Work hours will vary based on operational needs, and may include occasional overtime, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays.
