Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist Assistant to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist to provide basic respiratory care to non-acute patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draw arterial and/or capillary blood samples from patients, process the sample, record and report results, and perform quality controls as required.
  • Administer oxygen delivery devices, set up and monitor non-invasive equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers.
  • Provide basic respiratory therapy techniques, including aerosol therapy, postural drainage and percussion, incentive spirometry, metered dose inhalers, and other treatment modalities.
  • Clean, sterilize, assemble, test, and maintain par levels of facility respiratory equipment.
  • Order, maintain, and deliver oxygen to units, ensure respiratory equipment is available for procedures and examinations, and arrange for the repair of broken equipment.
  • Fills orders for respiratory supplies and equipment, receives for respiratory supplies and equipment deliveries, inspects supplies and equipment deliveries for damage, and labels storage bins, shelves, and other inventory locations.
Requirements
  • Current Respiratory Care Limited Permit, as required by the state you are working in.
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (required).
  • A current student in good standing with an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program or a recent graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program (required).
