Job Summary:
Certified Surgical Technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. They are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. Surgical technologists prepare operating rooms, equipment, and supplies. Surgical technologists must be able to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations. They must also be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Surgical technologists are an essential part of the surgical team and play a critical role in ensuring the success of surgical procedures.
