Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Gift Shop Cashier who possesses a strong enthusiasm for customer service and can thrive in a dynamic retail environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the smooth and accurate processing of customer transactions while maintaining a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales transactions, restock merchandise, and accurately price items in the gift shop.
  • Conduct inventory audits on a quarterly basis or as directed by management.
  • Receive, verify, and price incoming merchandise.
  • Operate the cash register, handle cash transactions, and reconcile daily sales.
  • Perform light cleaning duties, including dusting and organizing merchandise displays.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and consistently deliver exceptional customer service, with an emphasis on upselling.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management on a daily basis.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving merchandise as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in cash handling and a strong customer service background are essential.
  • Basic math skills and a background in hospitality are preferred.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service and positive employee relations is crucial.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Previous experience as a cashier is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to secondhand smoke and elevated noise levels.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events, including inventory management and store resets, is required.
