Role Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) for Admissions is responsible for overseeing, executing, coordinating, and managing patient care through effective communication with patients, families, nursing personnel, and other stakeholders, in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Qualifications and Licensure:
- Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing)
- Must be currently licensed/registered in the applicable State, maintaining an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferred: One (1) year of experience in geriatric nursing
- CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with ongoing maintenance of certification during employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess expert knowledge in the nursing field
- Make independent decisions when necessary
- Understand practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing operations in a post-acute care setting
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues, vendors, etc.
- Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
- Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training
Core Duties:
- Conduct hands-on assessments of patients during the admissions process
- Effectively relay assessment findings to the physician
- Deliver quality nursing care competently and knowledgeably
- Assess patient needs and initiate care plans upon admission and readmission
- Accurately document and transcribe physician orders
- Communicate orders promptly to ensure timely medication administration and implementation
- Maintain accurate and timely charting
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
- Assist in patient evacuation when necessary
- Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
- Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment
- Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
